Looking west from my backyard I can see Mt. Scott, my huge neighbor, fenced by the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.  Mt. Scott is no Mt. Fuji, but it hovers over this prairie with a stately   2,464' presence.  I am fond of the mountain and the nearby hills strewn with ancient granite boulders.  I especially enjoy the rugged "backyard" Prairie Hill and I am thrilled to share pictures of its surprising beauty.

Springs have often dazzled me with thousands of wildflowers blanketing fresh earth— bright blooms offer rich nectar to butterflies and bees. I've witnessed glowing gold sunsets and colorful cloud abstractions ranging from peach to purple moving through the sky.  I've also been amused and amazed by the creatures great and small that follow an abundant food-chain through this habitat— deer, bobcats, rabbits, lizards, snakes and an array of birds.  I feel vibrant on this prairie and believe that the animals, flowers of the field, trees, rocks, hills, and the mountain praise the Creator with me as we circle through the seasons.

I hope you enjoy these grateful moments on Prairie Hill with a glimpse to Mt. Scott, the stately neighbor to the west.
