Sleepy Daisy - Watercolor Sessions for Children

As I scoured the prairie for flowers to present at children's watercolor classes, about all I could find still standing in our hot and dry mid-summer, was the Sleepy daisy (Xanthisma texanum).

Children learned how to observe and illustrate a wildflower.

The children learned about native plants, the prairie ecosystem, and the roll of seeds and seasons. The Sleepy daisy seed-heads and seeds were scattered in the Professor’s Flower Garden afterwards.

Discovery Outpost in Medicine Park is an amazing children's toy and book store with many fun activities. In addition, it has an art gallery featuring some of my native wildflower watercolors.
