Baldwin's Ironweed

Here are some pictures from this summer's school house summer camp at the Museum of the Great Plains where kids learned about Ironweed and its role on the prairie. Initially, I was in search of native sunflowers to bring in, but the summer wildflowers (Aster family) are struggling in this dry, extreme heat. I was grateful to find the very tolerant Baldwin's ironweed though for our nature lesson and art inspiration.
